My own little printing experiment...

Last Tuesday we were given our first print demonstration and I was SO impressed! I was really amazed at what you can create in such a short space of time- and was particularly taken by the mono-printing. I had tried printing before in the portfolio course I did last year, but only did a small bit of mono-printing and then some reduction printing with lino which I quite enjoyed.
Anyway, after I went home on Tuesday I was itching to try it myself and apply print to my project in some way, so I decided to improvise with the materials I had at home. I got thinking that oil-based ink was what was being used in a lot of the print demos, so I thought I would just experiment with using some oil paint and spread it out on a piece of tracing paper as it wouldn't be absorbed by the paper.

I then put a piece of paper over the ink and drew on the back (without leaning on the page).

The results left on the  tracing paper
were nearly as nice as the finished prints.

I then started to experiment with adding colour, but just in small sections like in some of the paintings I've done before.
